Softball Game Preview: St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels vs. Trenton Trojans

St. Mary Catholic Central is 0-5 against Trenton since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Falcons/Kestrels will head out on the road to take on the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. St. Mary Catholic Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Trenton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. Mary Catholic Central barely beat Carlson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons/Kestrels put the hurt on the Marauders with a sharp 14-4 win on Wednesday. The Falcons/Kestrels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Bedford hit Trenton with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans fell just short of the Kicking Mules by a score of 10-8.

Analy Guth was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Olivia Soens was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

St. Mary Catholic Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Trenton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.

St. Mary Catholic Central suffered a grim 21-10 defeat to Trenton when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons/Kestrels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
