Softball Recap: Dewey Gets Past Commerce

Dewey had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Commerce Tigers.

Dewey's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kadynce Lavasseur, who went 2-for-4 while logging 2 RBI, 2 runs, and 1 stolen base.

Dewey hit smart and finished the game with no strikeouts. That's the fewest strikeouts they have managed all season.

Commerce is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dewey will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pawhuska at 5:00 p.m. on September 8. As for Commerce, they will be playing at home against Kansas at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
