Softball Recap: Middletown Christian Eagles vs. Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls
Middletown Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls 10-8.
Bella Hoffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Claire Mayhon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Riley White, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middletown Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ponitz Career Tech at 5:30 p.m. on March 31st. As for Mt. Healthy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Cincinnati Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
