Baseball Game Preview: Delphi Community Oracles vs. Winamac Warriors

The Delphi Community Oracles will face off against the Winamac Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Delphi Community has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Delphi Community earned a 19-15 victory over Lewis Cass. The win continues a trend for the Oracles in their matchups with the Kings: they've now won three in a row.

Delphi Community let Levi Coghill and Brett Huffman run wild. Coghill went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Huffman got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three stolen bases gave Coghill a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keygan Elliott, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four RBI.

Delphi Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .566. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Winamac fell victim to Kouts and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Mustangs & Fillies, falling 19-0. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Winamac's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Delphi Community, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 12-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Delphi Community has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Winamac struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Delphi Community took their win against Winamac when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Oracles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
