Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Comanches vs. Palm Desert Aztecs

The Canyon Comanches will be taking part in a tournament against the Palm Desert Aztecs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Friday just wasn't the day for Canyon's offense. They lost 7-0 to Banning on Friday.

Canyon got a good showing from Cooper Stevenson, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, Stevenson posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Palm Desert didn't have quite enough to beat Vista Murrieta on Friday and fell 9-8. The Aztecs have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Stevie Hutchinson and Joseph Valdivia stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hutchinson went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Valdivia scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mason Smith, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Palm Desert's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
