Volleyball Game Preview: Montini Catholic Broncos vs. Wheaton Academy Warriors

The Montini Catholic Broncos are taking a road trip to square off against the Wheaton Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Tuesday, Montini Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Nazareth Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.

Montini Catholic was actually outscored in aggregate across those three sets (67-66), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-20, 16-25, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Wheaton Academy entered their tilt with Illinois Math & Science Academy on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Titans.

Wheaton Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-12, 25-20.

Wheaton Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Montini Catholic, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.

Montini Catholic came up short against Wheaton Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
