Softball Recap: Quincy Gets the Win

Quincy took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Rock Island, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Rocks on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since March 19th.

Maylee Tipton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maggie Neally was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025.

Quincy's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Rock Island, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Quincy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-7 victory against Alton on the 18th. As for Rock Island, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-0 win against Galesburg on the 21st.
