Baseball Recap: Penn-Trafford Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

Penn-Trafford not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 10-0). They blew past the North Allegheny Tigers 9-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Dom Delio tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Logan Matrisch, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Nico Casciato was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Penn-Trafford pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for North Allegheny, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penn-Trafford will head out to challenge Penn Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for North Allegheny, they are taking a road trip to take on Fox Chapel at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Foxes will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
