Baseball Recap: Ashland Comes Up Short

Ashland extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-8 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Spooner Rails. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Oredockers have suffered since May 10, 2024.

As for Spooner, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this matchup were averaging 3.35 runs allowed.

For Spooner's part, Shamari Fahie was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Fahie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Sobralski, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, Ashland will face off against Cameron at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Spooner, they will challenge Hayward at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
