Baseball Game Preview: Oasis Sharks vs. First Baptist Academy Lions

Oasis is 8-1 against First Baptist Academy since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Sharks will venture away from home to challenge the Lions at 4:30 p.m. Oasis will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Oasis proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Ida Baker 8-7.

Chuck Sipe made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sipe was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brandon Bova-Cipolla was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Oasis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 8.8.

Meanwhile, First Baptist Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 21-9 to IMG Academy Blue. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Oasis' record now sits at 8-12. As for First Baptist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Oasis couldn't quite finish off First Baptist Academy in their previous matchup back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
