Baseball Recap: Magee Wins Going Away Against Jefferson Davis County

While Magee didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars 12-1 on Friday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Jeremiah Cole was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Timothy Craft, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Magee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Magee and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson Davis County, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Magee will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on March 21st. As for Jefferson Davis County, they will welcome East Marion at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
