Softball Recap: Biglerville Wins Going Away Against York Catholic

Biglerville got themselves on the board against York Catholic on Monday, but York Catholic never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Fighting Irish. The Canners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Jocelyn Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Miller was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs.

In other batting news, Kierney Weigle was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Slaybaugh, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Biglerville pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for York Catholic, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Biglerville will venture away from home to square off against Littlestown at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thunderbolts will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Canners surely won't give up without a fight. As for York Catholic, they will square off against Hanover at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Nighthawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.63 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of.
