Baseball Recap: Beatrice Comes Up Short

If Beatrice was feeling good fresh off their 17-4 takedown of Fairbury last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Orangemen fell 9-4 to Elkhorn North on Thursday. The Orangemen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Elkhorn North apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Ty Weichel was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Beatrice: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

Beatrice now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Elkhorn North, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Beatrice is set to square off against their familiar foe Waverly at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Elkhorn North will face off against rival Hastings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
