Basketball Game Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Groesbeck Goats

Troy is 0-5 against Groesbeck since December of 2014 but things could change on Monday. Both will round out the year against one another at at 11:00 a.m.

Troy is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 5th on Saturday. They took a blow against Live Oak Classical, falling 66-36. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 691st, while the Falcons are ranked 333rd).

Meanwhile, Groesbeck didn't have too much trouble with Leon on Friday as they won 59-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Goats.

Groesbeck is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Troy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.

Troy came up short against Groesbeck in their previous meeting back in February of 2018, falling 56-43. Can Troy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
