Baseball Game Preview: Wylie Prep Academy Patriots vs. Newman International Academy Warriors

The Wylie Prep Academy Patriots will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Newman International Academy Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wylie Prep Academy has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Newman International Academy will arrive with four straight victories.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newman International Academy). Another player making a difference was Caleb Palmer, who scored four runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3.

Newman International Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .696. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive games.

Newman International Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Wylie Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything went Wylie Prep Academy's way against Newman International Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as Wylie Prep Academy made off with an 18-5 victory.
