Preview: Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans vs. Falcon Falcons
The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Falcon Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Vista Ridge scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Fountain-Fort Carson still came out on top. Fountain-Fort Carson skirted past Vista Ridge 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Fountain-Fort Carson has posted yet this season.
Alexander Rivera and Trevor Coleman were among the main playmakers for Fountain-Fort Carson as the former scored 14 points and the latter scored six points along with seven rebounds and six blocks. Malik Hall was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Falcon had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They managed a 64-59 victory over The Classical Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Falcon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eric Graham, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Graham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Cox, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Fountain-Fort Carson's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Falcon, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Monday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Fountain-Fort Carson have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 36.8% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Falcon struggles in that department as they've drained 42.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Fountain-Fort Carson against Falcon in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 68-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fountain-Fort Carson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
