Baseball Recap: Mclane's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

McLane came into Wednesday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Roosevelt Rough Riders on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Highlanders also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Eddie Jimenez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Corona, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Leland Flores, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory got McLane back to even at 5-5. As for Roosevelt, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-2-1 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McLane will host Madera South at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Roosevelt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Firebaugh at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Firebaugh has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.57 runs per game on average), something Roosevelt will no doubt try to take advantage of.
