Preview: Triton Central Tigers vs. Waldron Mohawks

Triton Central is 8-2 against Waldron since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Triton Central Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Waldron Mohawks at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Triton Central entered their tilt with Morristown with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Triton Central strolled past Morristown with points to spare last Wednesday, taking the game 41-25. Given Triton Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Morristown is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Triton Central's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Quinn King, who scored 8 points along with 8 assists and 6 rebounds, and Brooklyn Bailey, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. Bailey hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Maryrose Felling was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.

Meanwhile, even though Greenwood Christian Academy scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Waldron still came out on top. Waldron secured a 63-57 W over Greenwood Christian Academy.

Waldron found their leader in underclassman Grace Fischer, who scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. The matchup was Fischer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Benson, who scored 11 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.

Triton Central's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Waldron, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: Triton Central have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 36.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Waldron, though, as they've only made 34.1% of theirs this season. Given Triton Central's sizeable advantage in that area, Waldron will need to find a way to close that gap. Everything came up roses for Triton Central against Waldron in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 60-29 victory. Will Triton Central repeat their success, or does Waldron have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
