Game recap: Washington High School Football Team defeats Southridge

MIAMI, Fla. - A big 21-point second quarter helped carry the Tornadoes to a 35-6 victory over Southridge (Miami, Fla.) on Saturday.

Washington scored on a touchdown run by Mark Walton, a touchdown pass by Treon Harris to Deltron Hopkins and a Harris touchdown pass to Krondis Larry in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a Harris touchdown run in the first quarter, WHS led 28-0 at the half.

The Tornadoes expanded their lead to 29 points entering the fourth quarter. Washington's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Walton.

With the win WHS extended its winning streak to eight games. The Tornadoes defeated the Spartans 68-17 last week.

Washington's standout player in the win was Harris. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 14 touchdowns on the season.



The Spartans' lone touchdown came on a 6-yard pass in the third quarter.

WHS came into the game allowing 13.4 points per game. Southridge came in allowing just 16.7 points per game this season. SHS struggled against the Tornadoes, which came in averaging 50.7 points per game.

A 45-7 Washington victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
