Basketball Recap: Grasso Tech Find Success

With a playoff win on the line, Grasso Tech rose to the challenge on Thursday. They escaped with a win against the Coventry Patriots by the margin of a single free throw, 63-62. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Julius Washington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds. His big performance that evening made it 22 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Washington, who posted 11 points.

Grasso Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 34 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Grasso Tech's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.3 points over those games. As for Coventry, they moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Grasso Tech wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-71 defeat against Old Lyme on the 10th. Coventry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
