Basketball Game Preview: Fairport Red Raiders vs. Hilton Cadets

The Fairport Red Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Hilton Cadets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Fairport knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully Hilton likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Fairport beat McQuaid Jesuit 78-72. Given the Red Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Knights are ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Hilton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 58-41 bruising from Rush-Henrietta.

Fairport's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Hilton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Fairport against Hilton when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured an 84-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
