Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Beats Severance for Their Ninth Straight Win

Roosevelt entered their tilt with Severance on Thursday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Severance Silver Knights, posting an 82-43 victory. Given the Roughriders' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Silver Knights are ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Kyla Hollier, who went 18-for-24 en route to 42 points and six rebounds. The game was her fifth in a row with at least 23 points. Ryanne Bahnsen-Price was another key player, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards.

Roosevelt was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points over those games. As for Severance, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Coming up, Roosevelt will head out to challenge Berthoud at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roosevelt knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Berthoud likes a good challenge. As for Severance, they will face off against Wellington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Severance is facing Wellington at the right time seeing as Wellington is stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
