Softball Recap: Lewiston-Porter's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lewiston-Porter hadn't done well against Grand Island recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Lancers won by a run and slipped past the Vikings 4-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Scarlett Sloma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Charlotte Ryan was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Alyssa Dashineau also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Lewiston-Porter picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Grand Island, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewiston-Porter will take on Kenmore East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grand Island, they will square off against Kenmore West at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
