League recap: Turner overpowering for Anacostia in past week

DCIAA - Eastern's top pitcher this week was Dequan Turner. He won one game and struck out 11 batters.

Anacostia made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from sixth to fourth place in the league thanks to a 2-1 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Ballou fell hardest in the standings, dropping from fourth all the way to sixth place after going 0-1 in the past week. McKinley Tech (10-1, 8-0) is now in first place.

The Indians' pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only one hits and one walks, both of which led the league. On the season, Anacostia has allowed just 43 hits, while striking out 107 batters. Turner leads Anacostia with 68 strikeouts in 32 innings.

The Indians, the league leader in stolen bases this season with 134, added to their lead in that category with 18 more steals over the past week. Given the green light by manager Cato June, Turner has racked up 26 steals on his own this season for Anacostia.
