Preview: Newbury Park Panthers vs. Orange Vista Coyotes
Newbury Park is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Orange Vista is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Newbury Park Panthers will take on the Orange Vista Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Newbury Park walked away with it. They skirted past Thousand Oaks 22-19.
Newbury Park can attribute much of their success to Jaxon Mckinney, who rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Newbury Park also got help from Shane Rosenthal who showed off his sure hands for 128 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, even though Western scored an imposing 46 points on Friday, Orange Vista still came out on top. Orange Vista strolled past Western with points to spare, taking the game 63-46.
Sire Gaines was his usual excellent self, rushing for 230 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. Gaines really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run. Another player making a difference was Jesse Anderson, who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Newbury Park has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Orange Vista, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 10-3.
