Volleyball Game Preview: Barrington Eagles vs. East Greenwich Avengers

After both having extra time off, the Barrington Eagles and the East Greenwich Avengers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Barrington is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Barrington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: La Salle Academy, who was ranked seventh at the time (Barrington was ranked 22nd). The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Rams on Thursday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-23, 25-22.

Meanwhile, East Greenwich hadn't done well against Chariho recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Avengers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Chargers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Avengers have posted against the Chargers since April 14, 2022.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (116-112) East Greenwich actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 28-26, 31-29, 17-25, 15-11.

Barrington's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for East Greenwich, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
