Baseball Recap: Somerset Tech Comes Up Short

Somerset Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dunellen Destroyers.

Caden Winnicki was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alexander Morales was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Anthony Torres was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Somerset Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Dunellen, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-6 record.

While Somerset Tech had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
