Raceland got a massive performance out of Lily Poplin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kali Vance, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Ohio County's good fortune finally ran out on Sunday. They lost 21-7 to Fern Creek. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since May 16, 2024.
Laynee Segers (2025) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Talynn Clark (2026) was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Even though they lost, Ohio County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive contests.
Raceland's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ohio County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3-1.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Raceland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .587. However, it's not like Ohio County struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
