Basketball Game Preview: North Hagerstown Hubs vs. Frederick Cadets

North Hagerstown hasn't had much luck against Frederick recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The North Hagerstown Hubs will welcome the Frederick Cadets at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with North Hagerstown sitting on five straight wins and Frederick on four.

It was a classic North v. South duel when North Hagerstown took on South Hagerstown on Tuesday. North Hagerstown came out on top against South Hagerstown by a score of 71-59.

It was another big night for Landon Somerville, who almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. Joey Dorsey was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine assists.

North Hagerstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Frederick beat Governor Thomas Johnson 70-66 on Wednesday.

North Hagerstown's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Frederick, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.

North Hagerstown strolled past Frederick when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 81-63. Will North Hagerstown repeat their success, or does Frederick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
