Baseball Game Preview: Girard Indians vs. Harding Raiders

The Girard Indians will face off against the Harding Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Girard 3.1, Harding 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Monday, Girard was able to grind out a solid win over Salem, taking the game 11-6. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Will Hynes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zach Ward, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Girard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Harding came up short against Washington on Monday, falling 9-3.

Harding saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Airiz Coleman Bey, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Girard's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Harding, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
