Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Del Valle's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Del Valle won the last time they faced Horizon and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Conquistadores blew past the Scorpions 20-3. Considering the Conquistadores have won 15 contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrea Salcedo made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.

In other batting news, Del Valle let Julianna Santos and Yallena Morgan run wild. Santos went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Morgan went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Santos has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Clarissa Cepeda, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Del Valle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Del Valle is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Horizon, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-19.
