Payson takes loss despite strong efforts from Micah Swasey and Legend Reynoso

Recap: Payson Lions vs. Provo Bulldogs

The Payson Lions suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Provo by a score of 36-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Payson has scored all season.

Despite the defeat, Payson had strong showings from Legend Reynoso, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals, and Micah Swasey, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Wolfe, who scored three points along with three steals.

Aaron Castagnetto was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with three steals for Provo. Castagnetto is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Johnson, who scored five points.

Payson has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Provo, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Payson will take on Timpanogos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Timpanogos' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Payson has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Provo, they will square off against Uintah at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Uintah is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.2 points per game.
