Basketball Recap: Stratford Academy Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Stratford Academy had won four straight home games and Frankie Raines Jr did his part to make it five on Saturday. The Stratford Academy Eagles came out on top against the George Walton Academy Bulldogs by a score of 62-52 thanks in part to Raines Jr, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Stratford Academy's points.

Tyler Burnett was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024.

Jaylen Alston-Taylor and Tiedrell Ansley certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Alston-Taylor went 6 of 7 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds, while Ansley posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Groome, who had seven points.

Stratford Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for George Walton Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Stratford Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-47 victory against John Milledge Academy on the 7th. As for George Walton Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-50 win against Loganville Christian Academy on the 7th.
