Baseball Recap: Lawson Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Lawson waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Christian Community Colts 10-3. The Lightning have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Colts, too.

Cal Hopkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lawson let Joe Featherstone and Mario Craig run wild. Featherstone went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Craig went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Featherstone has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Sheaffer, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lawson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Lawson pushed their record up to 19-10 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Christian Community, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Lawson has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet on the 21st. Christian Community has also already played their next match (against Trousdale County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
