Baseball Recap: Monroe County Comes Up Short

Monroe County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Clinton County Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-7 loss on Monday.

Monroe County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Briar Bourque, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Monroe County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13-1. As for Clinton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Monroe County will face off against Warren East at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clinton County, they will take on Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
