Basketball Recap: Lucy Gorman Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Community School of Davidson

Christ the King hadn't done well against Community School of Davidson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Christ the King Crusaders walked away with a 54-45 victory over the Community School of Davidson Spartans. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 54-52 victory two weeks ago.

Christ the King got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lucy Gorman out in front who posted 15 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. Gorman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rosie Gorman, who had 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Stewart, who earned 15 points. Regan Downey was another key player, putting up ten points.

Christ the King's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points over those games. As for Community School of Davidson, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.

Christ the King didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-34 loss against Lincoln Charter on the 21st. As for Community School of Davidson, they will venture away from home to square off against East Surry at 7:00 p.m. on February 25th. East Surry will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Community School of Davidson surely won't give up without a fight.
