Preview: Springport Spartans vs. Homer Trojans

Springport is 10-0 against Homer since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Springport Spartans will get right back to it and host the Homer Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Springport is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Homer in Michigan (Springport is ranked 136th, while Homer is ranked 273rd).

Springport has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 37 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 56-19 win over Union City on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-4.

Springport had a senior duo take command as Maddux Locke scored 22 points along with seven assists and six steals and Brenna Crittenden scored 17 points along with four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Locke has scored at least 25% of Springport's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloey Speer, who scored six points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Homer suffered a rough 62-40 defeat at the hands of Columbia Central on Thursday.

Springport's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Homer, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Springport strolled past Homer in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 68-52. Will Springport repeat their success, or does Homer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
