Softball Game Preview: Pine Bluff Zebras vs. Sheridan Yellowjackets

Pine Bluff is 0-10 against Sheridan since April of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Zebras will venture away from home to challenge the Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. Pine Bluff has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pine Bluff is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Parkview. While the Zebras didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 7-3 in the first period.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Sheridan's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 8-3 to Monticello.

Sheridan got a good showing from Rayleigh Umholtz, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Sadie Sterritt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Skylar Sterritt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Sheridan's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Pine Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Pine Bluff might still be hurting after the 23-0 defeat they got from Sheridan in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Zebras avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
