Soccer Game Preview: Rocklin vs. Davis Sr.

The Rocklin Thunder are taking a road trip to square off against the Davis Sr. Blue Devils at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Rocklin gave up the first goal last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Granite Bay. The Thunder wouldn't have won without Christian Acord, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Davis Sr. kept a clean sheet against Oak Ridge on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trojans, sneaking past 1-0. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Trojans are ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Davis Sr. pushed their record up to 11-3-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. As for Rocklin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4-3.

Rocklin came up short against Davis Sr. in their previous meeting back in January, falling 2-0. Can Rocklin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
