Softball Game Preview: Nimitz Vikings vs. Richardson Eagles

The Nimitz Vikings will challenge the Richardson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nimitz has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Nimitz earned a 23-19 win over MacArthur. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Olivia Valdelamar and Dani Maloney did most of the damage at the plate: Valdelamar went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, two runs, and one double, while Maloney scored five runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those seven RBI gave Valdelamar a new career-high. Jashylynn De La Torre was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Nimitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Richardson didn't have quite enough to beat Irving on Friday and fell 8-7.

Nimitz's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Richardson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Nimitz beat Richardson 14-9 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Nimitz repeat their success, or does Richardson has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
