Football Game Preview: Seymour Wildcats vs. Kennedy Eagles

Seymour has gone a perfect 4-0 against Kennedy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Wildcats will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Seymour has six straight victories, Kennedy has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Seymour's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Watertown 47-0. The matchup marked the Wildcats' most dominant win of the season.

Anthony Cortello and Connor Shea were among the main playmakers for Seymour as the former threw for 239 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes and the latter gained 117 total yards and two touchdowns. Shea is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 105 every time he's taken the field this season. Max Brito was another key player, gaining 102 total yards and a touchdown.

Seymour was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 204 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Kennedy and Naugatuck were almost perfectly matched up on Saturday, but Kennedy suffered a 35-34 loss. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one point.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Seymour, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Everything came up roses for Seymour against Kennedy in their previous meeting back in September of 2019, as the team secured a 43-12 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
