Softball Recap: Liberty Christian Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against River View, Liberty Christian was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Sunnyside Christian Knights a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Patriots have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Megan Butcher, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mady Getchell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Liberty Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in three consecutive games.

Liberty Christian now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Sunnyside Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 5-4.

Looking ahead, Liberty Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against DeSales at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Irish will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sunnyside Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Mabton at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
