Basketball Recap: Nevada Union Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Nevada Union hadn't done well against Yuba City recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Nevada Union Miners snuck past the Yuba City Honkers with a 62-58 win. This was payback for the Miners, who suffered a 53-42 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Despite the loss, Yuba City had strong showings from Alex Saavedra, who posted 20 points, and Jay Rai, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Rai has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Sandhu, who scored six points and three steals.

The victory snapped Nevada Union's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-8 record. As for Yuba City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nevada Union has already played their next contest (against River Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Yuba City will face off against Roseville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Roseville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
