Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Placid). They were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over the Wells Wells CSD on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Jonathan Caito and Chase Flyte made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Caito pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Flyte pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Caito has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Caito went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Flyte went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Caito has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Lake Placid got a massive performance out of Jordan DeForest, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that DeForest has brought in this season. Hyler Isham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Lake Placid always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .580. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wells only posted an OBP of .222.
The win made it two in a row for Lake Placid and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Wells, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
