Baseball Game Preview: Lyford Bulldogs vs. Valley View Tigers

The Lyford Bulldogs will square off against the Valley View Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lyford 3.3, Valley View 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Valley View will be up against a hot Lyford team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Bulldogs came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Raymondville. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 3rd.

Diego Medina was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Josiah Palmer was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Valley View challenged La Feria on Tuesday. The Tigers fell just short of the Lions by a score of 6-5.

Diego Vega was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Justice, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Lyford's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Valley View, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
