Soccer Game Preview: Poudre vs. Horizon

The Poudre Impalas will challenge the Horizon Hawks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Poudre's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Poudre fell victim to Fossil Ridge and their airtight defense on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the SaberCats. While losing is never fun, Poudre can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Fossil Ridge are ranked first).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Horizon). They blew past Silver Creek 9-1 on Tuesday. Horizon might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Silver Creek from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Mia Kresnik led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Poudre, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-2.
