Western's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Cypress Bay as they made off with a 26-0 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Lightning are ranked 294th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Deerfield Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Atlantic 55-21.

The victory made it two in a row for Western and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 points in those games. As for Deerfield Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
