Softball Recap: Montello Hilltoppers vs. Markesan Hornets
Montello had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-14-1 to make it 11. They came up short against the Markesan Hornets, falling 11-2. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-0 defeat back in April.
As for Markesan, their record now sits at 6-12-2. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Markesan's part, Hannah Stellmacher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Stellmacher was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Markesan got a big performance out of Samantha Minnema, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Minnema has posted since back in April. Lauren Moldenhaur was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
As of now, neither Montello nor Markesan have any future games scheduled.
