Softball Recap: Marion County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Marion County's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Taylor County on Tuesday. The Knights came out on top against the Campbellsville Eagles by a score of 10-5. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Gracyn Mattingly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abbi Million, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kendra Gaddie also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Marion County's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Campbellsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Campbellsville will venture away from home to face off against Adair County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marion County will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' game: after the Eagles face off against Lincoln County, they'll take on Marion County again at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
