Shadow Mountain couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 27-10 bruising from the Benson Bobcats on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Matadors of the 38-34 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

Shadow Mountain wouldn't let Benson keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Shadow Mountain can thank Jaiden Hill and Sean Collins for forcing both of them.

Flint Davis had an outrageously good game for Benson as he rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also caught two touchdowns. Dawson Judd was another key player, throwing for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

Shadow Mountain will venture away from home to face off against San Tan Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Benson, they will be defending their home-field for the first time for the first time when they go up against Phoenix Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
